In this Q&A, Vantage Risk’s resident scuba diver Joe Rosario discusses the parallels between underwriting and underwater exploration and shares how his interest in construction led him from California to Chicago.

Can you give me an overview of your career path – had you always planned on becoming an underwriter?

I went to school in California where I got my business degree, and during the summers I would work in construction for a small general contractor. This became the foundation for my interest in construction. I’ve always enjoyed being hands on, and even though I have a desk job these days, construction professional liability insurance really allows me to marry that interest and experience in construction with my business degree. It couldn’t suit me better.
